(More customer reviews)My husband bought this pressure cooker for me almost a year ago and admittedly, I was scared to use it.Everyone has a story of 'someone' they know that used a pressure cooker and blew up dinner, having to scrap it off the ceiling.I grew up in a household that used pressure cookers so I was familiar with them but had never attempted it on my own.
This week I decided to take the plunge.I would not have felt comfortable using it without the instruction manual (a poster below rated it very low but admitted they had no documentation with it). This cooker comes with 2 bookets;one is a manual and the second is a recipe book. I wish the recipe book had more to choose from, but it's a good start.
You have a base that sits on the counter, so your pressure cooker does not have to cook on the stove. The pot fits into the base, the lid locks in place for cooking and see-thru glass lid comes with for warming later on.It also comes with a steamer basket and a trivet.
The ease of use is highly rated by me.One push on the button sets the time and you are good to go.The timer will shut off the pressure cooker after the cook time and automatically sets it to 'warm' so you don't have to babysit it.When your meal is finished you remove the pot from the base, let the pressure out and take the lid off.Dinner is served!
The only downside I can think of would be the pot has a base attached to it so you cannot immerse the pot into your sink to clean.
Now that I've take the plunge and prepared a Chicken Marengo recipe I plan on tackling mashed potatoes and the brisket next.Cooking potatoes in 16 minutes, chicken pieces in 17 minutes and briskets in 40 is heaven sent on busy nights! My hope and plan is to use the Manttra Multi Cooker on average once a week this winter.I'm very excited I finally got the nerve to give it a try!
